It's taken a while to get this blog up and running, but, finally, here it is. Many of you followed "Jeff & Sherry's Great Adventure 2011" - in case you didn't, and, for some reason (?!) want to check out our trip two years ago, the website is http://tinyurl.com/ktyo7ql. (if this link doesn't work, you'll have to 'cut and paste' until I can figure it out!) We're back in Valdez - Jeff is again covering for Drs. Katherine and Kelly Hawkins while they enjoy some hard earned vacation time. His first day was June 3rd and his last will be July 27th. We're back in our sweet apartment with our wonderful friends/landlords, Terry & John Folsom and their Goldens, Meli & Copper.
I never properly finished the blog two years ago. After we left Valdez, we had an unforgettable week driving to Denali and Talkeetna. To wrap up that trip, we made a video - partly why it took a while for to get this blog going again! You can view it on YouTube at http://tinyurl.com/m7ctl5w We'd love to hear what you think of the video.
Valdez had 410" of snow this winter - not a record - but the exceptionally cold spring means there is still a LOT of snow on the ground. Happily the weather has been spectacular - sunny and 50's & 60's - so it is melting fast. If you visit, bring high boots!
I know you are all clamoring for "The Morning Mountain" and "Reggie" reports. One Reggie sighting so far - our first night here. It was so great to see him.The photo was taken just before midnight -
And now for the "Morning Mountain" fans, here is a recap of our first week - notice how much better the sky becomes. All the photos were taken between 7:30 & 9:00 AM. In the later photos it looks like a big snow melt. Actually Jeff knocked down the snow so he could take the plexiglass covers off of the windows (protection so the snow that slides off the roof doesn't come in the window!)
