Back in Alaska again - May 30th to June 1st

May 30th to June 1st - we left Wilmington on the 30th just before 1 pm and arrived in Anchorage at 8:30 pm (12:30 am home time). 12 hours portal to portal with stops in Atlanta and Minneapolis/St. Paul - not bad at all. Except for a run between gates in Atlanta, it was an amazingly trouble-free flying day (knock on wood, throw salt, anything not to jinx the flight home!)

We spent two days in Anchorage - an afternoon at the Anchorage Museum where the current exhibit is "Arctic Flight"- wonderful.

Most of the permanent exhibits in the museum are dedicated to the history of the Alaskan native population - they have some wonderful dioramas.

After all that excitement we went to the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts to see "The Aurora Show" - photographs of the Aurora Borealis by Dave Parkhurst. Not only were the photographs truly beautiful beyond description (trite but true), but also it was accompanied by just wonderful music.
